The Jeffrey Energy Center is comprised of three (3), 800 MW T-fired boilers. Each boiler is a Combustion Engineering (CE) design with fifty-six (56) coal burners arranged in a tangentially fired (T-fired), eight (8) corner furnace configuration. The tilting tangential firing system consists of eight (8) windboxes housing seven (7) elevations of coal nozzles. BHI FW provided new low NOx T-fired burners and Separated Overfire Air (SOFA) for all three units. All three units have been successfully operating, meeting emissions and unit performance for over six years.
The unit fires low sulfur Powder River Basin (PRB) coal.
